Backup Space is how much space you want for your backups. You can choose this value and there are no limits.

On the Home page Backup Space Used shows how much of your backup space you have used, and how much you have free.

For every GB you ask for, you will share the same with your buddies. So, the more you share, the more you can backup.

For example, if you choose 10 GB of backup space, then your buddies can backup 10 GB of backups to you.

This limit is the total limit for all of your buddies. For example, if you choose 10 GB as your backup space, and you allow 5 buddies to backup you, they can only backup to this limit between them, e.g. 2 GB each.

On the Home page Shared Space Used shows how much of your shared space your buddies have used.

Backup Space and Files

Note that the size of your files you can actually back up may not exactly match your backup space.
BuddyBackup compresses all files so that some files will take up a lot less space on your buddies
On the other hand, you can choose to backup more copies of your files, meaning that more space is used
For example, you are backing up some files which are a total of  5 GB in size. You may find that because these all compress well, you only need 2 GB of storage space. However, by default BuddyBackup will keep two copies of the data. In this example the total backup space used is 4 GB (2 x 2GB).
